Keeper of the Archives – 2015 PERSONALITIES

Keeper of the Archives – 2015

( words)

In his speech, at the 2015 'Keeper of the Archives' ceremony, Andreas Augustin, President of 'The Most Famous Hotels in the World', quoted:
'"He who is not curious, knows nothing;" words said by the female protagonist, Sora, in "The Triumph of Sensibility" by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Just as she peeks through the cracks to see things, so too, historical research also requires peering through many such cracks. In so doing, it is especially important to find the right people who can facilitate our search, guide us on the right path and not block the view.
The organization, The Most Famous Hotels in the World, bestows the KEEPER OF THE ARCHIVES award as special thanks to those individuals who deserve special recognition for their preservation and provision of archived material.
In Davos, Switzerland, we discovered such a person in the 'DBD - The Davos Documentation Library'.
DR. TIMOTHY NELSON went above and beyond the call of duty to support us in research for our book, The GRAND HOTEL BELVEDERE. For that, he deserves our special thanks.'

'Doctor Nelson not only inspired us to award him this prize but we hope that he will further inspire whole generations of archivists in the coming years to achieve excellence in the field of historic archiving. This will not only facilitate our work as hotel historians but makes our job possible. The keeper of the Archives award for 2015 therefore goes to Dr. Timothy Nelson.'
