Hotel Yerevan
"Yerevan Hotel" was the first hotel in Yerevan, built in 1926-28 by the famous architect N. Buniatian. The hotel was called originally ''Intourist". "Yerevan Hotel" is situated on Abovian Street, one of the most important streets of the capital, right on the square that has recently been named after the well-known singer Charle Aznavour.
In 2000 ''Yerevan Hotel'' was renovated luxuriously by Italian construction company ''.'' ''Yerevan Hotel'' is one of the architectural monuments of Armenia and is most interesting with its unique architectural internal and external solutions.
How the Stage was Set
1926-28: The hotel was built by the famous architect N. Buniatian. It was originally called Intourist Hotel. 1928-35: The famous poet Eghishe Charents chose Hotel Yerevan as his place of residence and wrote the poem ''Girk Tchanaparhi'' here. 2000: ''Yerevan Hotel'' was renovated luxuriously by Italian construction company Renco.
Famous guests include cultural and political figures such as writer Arshak Chopanian, Russian poet Ossip Mandelshtam, well-known Armenian film director Sergey Paragianov, who have all lived in the hotel. In 1928-35 the famous poet Eghishe Charents choose "Hotel Yerevan" as his residence and it is where he wrote his world-known poem ''Girk Tchanaparhi''. Nowadays ''Yerevan Hotel'' is favoured by both Armenian and foreign businessmen, cultural, political figures and tourists. Recent famous guests inlude Maestro Ricardo Muti, Vladimir Spivakov and Charle Aznavour.
