The Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte is the most famous hotel on Viareggio’s seafront,in Tuscany at the West coast of Italy (Pisa, Livorno, Lucca are relatively near by).
The hotel is close to the beach with a beautiful view, near a pine forest - the green lung of the city, at the centre and the promenade, full of boutiques, shops, typical restaurants and nightclubs.
Opened in 1922, the hotel underwent a two-year restoration in 2004 which brought it to a never before seen splendour.
Tuscany is a region famous for its sea, countryside, mountains, culture, art cities, spas, food and wines, traditions, sport and fashions.
The majestic cultural and artistic heritage of Florence and the other art cities, the quality of its beaches and sea (it has more than 20 blue flags), the six UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Palio of Siena, the Carrara white marble quarries, the beautiful countryside and the great Chianti wines: all this and much more go to make up Tuscany which is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of Italy’s most beautiful and vibrant regions.
Founded in 1922 under the name Select Palace Hotel, in 1925 it was extended by two floors and embellished by the magnificent façade that harmonizes the central part.
Time has transformed it into a Grand Hotel of international fame. It became the preferred residence of aristocrats, intellectuals and artists alike.
Rechristened the Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte in 1938, its grandeur has captured the attention of countless directors becoming the scene for prestigious cinematographic productions.
Restored to the height of its splendour in 2004, after 19 months of restoration, today the Principe is unquestionably one of the world’s most historic and elegant hotels.
Happiness is made to be shared, knew the great French dramatist Jean Baptiste Racine (†1699).
