1954-56: The original Grand Hotel Balkan was designed and built in the eclectic, classical style. It was part of an architectural group of government and official buildings - the Presidency, the office of the Prime Minister and the Central Department Store.
1986, September: After a complete renovation, the hotel re-opened as the Sheraton Sofia Hotel Balkan, operating under the first western chain management contract in Eastern Europe.
1994: The hotel became part of The Luxury Collection under the Starwood brand.
2000: Sheraton Sofia Hotel Balkan completed a $5 million renovation programme.
The restaurant has long been a preferred venue for the country political and business elite and has been honoured to welcome every Bulgarian prime minister and president for the past decade.
