The Hill Club of Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka, was founded in 1876 by a British Coffee Planter. Today it is a privately operated club with luxury rooms and all modern facilities.
It is, however, accessible to the public (temp. membrships) and a recommended place to spend the night.
THE HILL CLUB CODES AND REGULATIONS
Club Dress Code is effective from 7 pm onwards. Whoever, needs to utilize the Mixed Bar, Main Dining Room, Mixed Lounge, the Gentleman are requested to be attired In jacket and tie and the ladies should be in suitable attire for the evening. No jeans, denims will be permitted in these areas. Whoever, who wish to be in casual (in accepted manner – no shorts, no slippers or three quarters during dinner time) they could dine in the “Lilly Restaurant” (Casual dining room) and the Casual Bar. If required Jackets and ties could be borrowed from the Club, free of charge.
Use of Mobile phones is not permitted in the Main Dining Room, Mixed Lounge, Lilly Restaurant (Casual Dining Room), Reading Room, Mixed and Casual Bar, Monsoon Room and the Billiard Room. However, the phones could be kept on silenced mood and could be used in the corridor or in the telephone booth
