Completed in 1866 it was ready to welcome its first gueats. But nobody came. The owner opend the house for the public to have a look. Free of charge, of course. That worked. Since the opening in 1867, InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam has been celebrated as the most beautiful and luxurious hotel in the Netherlands, and ranks with the best hotels in the world.
