We unearthed the original drawings of the hotel.

We have chosen over 200 historic photographs from a vast collection of images. Historic photographs, flyers, catalogues and hotel advertising material is published on 160 pages.

Rare documents: historic invoices and receipts.

Most beautiful: a 1920s brochure of the Excelsior.

The private collections of former and current members of the staff were a fantastic source. Here pictures from the Gastone Pizzoli collection.

Sometimes the concierge is even more famous than his clientele. Before Walter Ferrari retired he has told us his story.

With Villa La Cupola the Excelsior built one of the most remarkable suites in the world. The dome and all walls have wonderful frescoes, painted by artists. For New Year's eve 1999/2000 the rate rose to US$10,000 per night (today 20,000).
