Anna Sacher - the Queen of Austrian hospitality, the legend of hotel-keeping. Anna Sacher had been designated president of the board of trustees of the School of Cookery of Vienna Innkeepers. Providing free food for impoverished students, she was the first Austrian citizen to be awarded the Golden Cross of Merit of the Republic.
In 1924 she wrote on a portrait, still hanging in the Sacher: “To be beautiful in youth is luck. To remain likeable in old age is a merit.”
