In 1973 television viewers had the Sacher delivered to their living rooms live with the 26 (!) part television series Hallo, Hotel Sacher, Portier! It came from the pen of Fritz Eckhardt, who lived out a double role in the series as both author and the title hero “porter Huber.” The unforgettable Maxi Böhm played another porter, as did Manfred Inger. The series made the Hotel Sacher so popular throughout the German-speaking world that busloads of guests started visiting the hotel to get their fix.
