Franz Sacher was born to cook. He came into this world on 16 December 1816 and his vocation was quickly apparent. As a small boy he showed a tremendous interest in food. By the age of five, he recognised all the different herbs. His taste buds were fine-tuned and he ate only what he liked. Whilst other children played with their peers, young Franz could be found standing in the kitchen next to his mother, trying out new creations. She was the one who taught him and inspired him.
