Knickerbocker

-
Just off Chicago's famed "Magnificent Mile," the Gold Coast setting of the Millennium Knickerbocker is the best location for shopping and business. Built in 1927, the 14-story hotel was originally known as the Davis Hotel, named for its general manager. In 1952 Richard Nixon stayed here as part of the California delegation attending the Republic National Convention; when he unexpectedly became the nominee for Vice President on the ticket with Dwight D. Eisenhower, he was swiftly moved from his smaller suite into grander accommodations. A multi-million dollar renovation in 2001 enhanced many of the hotel's historic features, and the guest rooms now feature a stylish mix of classic Chicago design and modern conveniences. The baroque-style Crystal Ballroom with its 28-foot gilded ceiling is one of the most palatial in Chicago and features a unique lighted dance floor.
