History Schweizerhof Present Schweizerhof

Schweizerhof

One of the most important historical hotels in Switzerland. The Hotel Schweizerhof Bern & Spa, previously known in the 19th century as "Hotel Fetzer" or "Zähringerhof," acquired its present name in 1859 under the proprietorship of Daniel Vogel. In 1911, the hotel underwent demolition, and on July 1, 1913, it was ceremoniously inaugurated. Jack Gauer assumed management of the esteemed establishment in 1939, overseeing multiple renovations in subsequent years. In 2005, the hotel closed for extensive refurbishments and underwent another comprehensive two-year renovation starting in 2009, culminating in the creation of the sole spa facility in the city of Bern. Presently, the Hotel Schweizerhof Bern & Spa is part of the Bürgenstock Collection's portfolio.

Our team researches the hotel's history, from the very beginning, verifying its exact opening date and providing an overview of its history up to the present day.
