Since 1951 the Bristol in Beirut is one of the great hotels of the Middle East. Born into the heydays of Beirut, then called the "Paris of the Middle East", it has survived various wars and emergencies. Le Bristol Hotel was built in1951 by the Doumet Family. At that time, Lebanon was expanding at a fast rate and the family believed that their contribution to the hospitality industry would assist in the development of their country. The first General Manager appointed, Mr. Georges Rayess, well known for his books on culinary art, guided to becoming the famous hotel in Lebanon. The Hotel has hosted some of most distinguished personalities in the world including Shah and Princess Souraya of Iran, the late King Hussein and Princess Dina of Jordan, Prince Majed Emir of Mecca and many other foreign dignitaries who have held their lunches, conferences and cocktails in hotel.
Lately Le Bristol has accommodated President Chirac, Prince Abdallah Bin Abdel Aziz, President of the Gabon and Prince Albert of Monaco accompanied by their respective delegations.
We have hosted the ministers of foreign affairs of Irak and Iran and an important visiting U.S. delegation accompanied by Lebanese descendents, senators Nick Rahal and Ray Lahoud.
The former Secretary General of the United Nations Mr. Boutros Ghali was also one of our VIP guests.
