The Trianon Palace features 2 buildings facing each other: the main historical building, the Palace with 93 apartments and deluxe suites, and the Pavillon with 99 standard bedrooms. Located in a town steeped in the glory of the past, Trianon Palace is a hotel with an important place in not only the history of hospitality but the history of the world. The Treaty of Versailles was prepared right here. Luminaries of theatre and literature, including Marcel Proust, have stayed here, as have royals, not least Queen Elizabeth II.

HISTORY IN DETAIL
1907 : Financed by the Société du Trianon Palace Hôtel, the project got off the ground. A park of three hectares was purchased near the Trianon in Versailles. The site was cleared. Architect René Sergent was commissioned to design the new hotel.
1911: Italian poet Gabriele d’Annunzio hosted a banquet for 300 guests in the hotel’s 300-square-metre dining room. The room became known as the Salon Clemenceau.
1914-18: During World War I, the hotel became the permanent committee headquarters of the Allie military commanders. Parts of it were used as a hospital.
1919: The Salon Clemenceau was used for the preparation of the Treaty of Versailles.
1920s: Normal life resumed. A bus service from Place de la Concorde in central Paris dropped guests off at Trianon Palace three times daily. The hotel became a favourite haunt of Paris’ fashionable crowd. Famous guests included Sarah Bernhardt, André Citroen and Jean Borotra, a prominent tennis player of the era. Cine
1920s: The hotel was flush with big money from US guests.
1940: The German occupiers arrived at the hotel following the fall of France. Air Marshal Herman Goering resided at the hotel and Adolf Hitler visited him here.
1945: SHAEF (Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force) established itself at Trianon Palace with General Eisenhower at the hotel.
1997: Westin bought Trianon Palace from Japanese real estate group MDI.
2001: Extensive renovation project restored Trianon Palace to its former glory.

Visit the Chateau de Versailles, the extravagant palace built by France's Sun King, Louis XIV, back in the 17th century.
